Method and limits
- Scope is the Top Texas AI Companies list: AI-native companies headquartered in Texas. The index measures that tracked list, not the whole Texas AI market.
- Totals are cumulative disclosed funding, not annual flows.
- Sector buckets are our classification, not the companies' own.
- Recency counts a company only if its latest round's whole date range falls inside the 12 months ending on the as-of date. Rounds dated to a range that straddles the window edge are reported as not counted, never guessed in.
- The index is not a score, a forecast or a ranking. Later editions add an item to the list above; older ones change only by a dated correction note.
