About Texas AI Report
What we are
Texas AI Report is an independent news publication covering artificial intelligence policy, business, and risk in Texas. Our reporting focuses on how AI regulation, government adoption, and commercial deployment affect individuals, companies, and institutions across the state — and how Texas fits into the broader national and global AI governance landscape.
Mission
We believe AI policy is too consequential to be explained badly. Our mission is to provide accurate, independently sourced reporting and analysis for business leaders, policy practitioners, and informed Texans who need to understand what is actually happening — not what the press release says.
Publisher & Editor
Texas AI Report is owned and operated by Matt Bertram, an AI-governance practitioner based in Houston, Texas. Matt is a NIST AI Safety Institute Consortium (AISI) participant, holds the IAPP AI Governance Professional (AIGP) credential, and is the holder of two provisional patents in AI governance. He is the founder of EWR Digital (a digital marketing and technology agency) and leads ModalPoint (an AI-governance advisory).
Funding & Independence
At launch, Texas AI Report is self-funded. It is affiliated with EWR Digital and ModalPoint through common ownership. There are currently no paid advertisers or sponsors. Coverage decisions are made editorially and are independent of ModalPoint's or EWR Digital's commercial interests. When a story references an affiliated entity, that relationship is disclosed inline. See our full Ownership & Disclosure page.
